KEY POINTS TO REFLECT ON & LINKS MENTIONED
In this interview, a lot of jewels of self-improvement are discussed. Some of these and their associated thoughts include:
- We are all born confident, it is a birth-rite. However, we can lose our confidence in a number of different ways, but it can be recovered.
- All children are born confident, but sadly not all adults are, and they let their lack of confidence dictate their life and how much and how far in life they can go. Confidence is a key factor in your ability and something that should be monitored and worked on as you go to continually improve and try new things.
- You are not the story that you tell yourself. We all have the ability to change, the story you tell yourself is just that, a story, it is not your identity. If it is just a story, what could you do if you didn’t allow your bs limitations to hold you back?
- However, if you do not deal with your confidence drainers or the affect of them, you are destined to repeat them throughout your life and you deserve better than that. You can make the change you need but you must want to and must act.
- To understand where your lack of confidence, you must first find the events that caused it. This may be painful to relive and think about but once you have a starting point, you can start working from there and look to fix it. The hardest part is accepting that you have a lack of confidence but the realization that it can be fixed and and you can transform yourself, should be a great motivational tool.
- Unfortunately, we can lead our live believing we are not good enough due to events from childhood etc. You are not your past and your future can be whatever you want it to be, if you are willing to do the work in the present.
- Confidence is derived from the thoughts you have and the actions you take. Want more confidence, you need more positive and self-love in your thoughts and more self-supportive actions.
- Confidence is sexy, but it needs to be real, pure and felt throughout, not the fake shit to play up a character you hope people see you as. To be confident, you must be authenticate.
- True friends will support you and look out for you, they will not wish for your failure or chip away at your confidence. There is a difference between being a downer and looking out for a friend.
- Compete but compete to be a better yourself, compete to be a better person that you were yesterday. If you feel jealous of someone, think positive towards them and then work on yourself. The only competition you should be in is towards yourself and being better than you were yesterday.
- Don’t reason your defeats before you have even tried. The time will pass regardless. Give your goals a chance, don’t let negative self-talk or comments from others to stop you trying. You never know what may happen but you will always fail if you don’t try.
- Finding a men’s development group can be a great way to learn to develop yourself, open up, be vulnerable and learn to be a better and more confident person.
- You are the average of the five people that you hang around. Find friends that are confident, supportive and want the best for you. Lose toxic friends and replace them with those that want to bring you up, not cut you down.
- True confidence can change your life. But you must want it. You must work for it. No one will give it to you. True confidence will open up so many possibilities for you and open up your chance to achieve your dreams. But you need to work, you need to step up and chase your dreams, and the first step is rebuilding your confidence and forgetting the bs that is holding you back.

This controversial e-book phenomenon became a best-seller and landed its author, a certified marriage and family therapist, on The O’Reilly Factor and the Rush Limbaugh radio show. Dr. Robert Glover has devoted his career as a psychotherapist to freeing men from what he was dubbed the “Nice Guy Syndrome”-trying too hard to please others while neglecting their own needs, thus causing unhappiness and resentfulness. It’s no wonder that unfulfilled Nice Guys lash out in frusteration at their loved ones, claims Dr. Glover. He explains how they can stop seeking approval and start getting what they want in life, by presenting the information and tools to help them ensure their needs are met, to express their emotions, to have a satisfying sex life, to embrace their masculinity and form meaningful relationships with other men, and to live up to their creative potential.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OFTOTAL HUMAN OPTIMIZATION
Optimization is a process and not a prize. A journey—not a destination. To be truly optimized is to live up to your potential at any given moment. At the same time, we recognize that your potential today is not the same as it will be in a year if you stay the course, so to judge yourself today on the standards of tomorrow is foolhardy. To start optimizing effectively now, you only have to recognize that the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected.

About the Author
I’m a podcaster who interviews great examples of people to discuss and highlight the methods, hacks, tips and procedures you can use in your own life to help you develop and better your life. I would definitely not consider myself an expert, so to improve, I ask them and action it in my own life! My personal journey has been marked by awkwardness and awesomeness, OCD and ‘OMG’. I have suffered with depression, shyness, unhappiness and lack of focus and motivation so I know what’s it like to feel lost and hopeless. Back then, I wished I had a podcast to listen to and find actual fixes and concrete action steps and not just unobtainable suggestions and promotion of their products but couldn’t find it … so I made my own!-
